Tilt is hiring a Lead Engineer for NIRA, our newly acquired credit business in India. This is a hands-on technical expert role where you will spearhead the system redesign and scale production systems for real-time credit decision engines, loan origination, and loan management. You will report to NIRA's founders in India while partnering closely with global Tilt engineering teams.
What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of highest impact systems across the loan lifecycle including credit decision, loan origination, and management.
- Prototype, integrate, and deploy new technologies, solutions, and rewrites to run the ongoing business while redesigning for future scale.
- Build system capability to rapidly iterate on new data sources, segments, credit decision components, and new lending partners.
- Build internal platform tools to support and catalyze recurring engineering workloads in the team.
- Mentor and lead primarily by example, undertaking team coaching initiatives aimed at striving for engineering excellence.
- Partner with other international and US engineering teams to identify transferable learnings and common artifacts.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar quantitative field.
- 6+ years of industry experience in backend development on large-scale, high-traffic production systems.
- Strong hands-on expertise in databases (open source & managed), APIs, servers, and backend architecture.
- Experience scaling a product from a few millions to tens of millions of users in an individual contributor role.
- Experience enabling decision making & deployment of product iterations based on purpose-fit A/B testing or other decision systems.
- Experience leading to rapid prototypes and integrations on both the demand and supply side of a business.
- Ability to communicate effectively about details and convey impact to an executive audience.
