We are seeking a Law Student Volunteer to join our Legal Advocacy Team. In this role, you will gain direct experience similar to a first-year associate attorney, performing substantive legal work under the supervision of a licensed attorney while contributing to our mission.
What You'll Do
- Perform legal research on various topics, including computer-based research and visiting law libraries for specialized materials.
- Draft memoranda of law and other legal documents, analyzing the law and applying it to specific factual situations to write legal arguments.
- Consult with legal staff about strategy and assist with developing or conveying legal advice.
- Perform work under the supervision of a licensed attorney but must be able to conduct research in an investigative manner without step-by-step instruction.
What We're Looking For
- Currently attending law school.
- Completion of at least one year of law school with specialist training in legal research.
- Proficiency in organizational, analytical, attention to detail, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to professionally handle confidential information.
Team & Environment
You will be an integral part of the Legal Advocacy Team, supervised by a licensed attorney.
Work Mode
This is a hybrid position. Work locations include Lansdowne, VA and a remote home office.
