The City of Saskatoon is hiring a Landfill Attendant to join our Water and Waste Operations team. Reporting to the Supervisor VI, you will perform a variety of duties at the Saskatoon Regional Waste Management Centre to ensure efficient and safe waste disposal by the public.
What You'll Do
- Direct vehicles in an orderly manner to prevent accidents.
- Screen waste at the point of unloading to prevent dumping of unacceptable material and encourage recycling.
- Enforce posted site rules, including no salvaging and no smoking near disposal areas.
- Monitor and maintain recycling areas, including the used oil facility.
- Operate a variety of equipment, such as a roll-off truck, skid steer, water truck, and front-end loader.
- Perform site maintenance duties, including litter collection, snow clearing, and cleaning offices and sheds.
- Perform the duties of the Landfill Labourer or Weigh Scale Attendant as required.
- Support and promote the health and safety of employees and the general public in accordance with all regulations and policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Grade 12 education or a commitment to obtain a GED within 12 months of hire.
- Minimum of three months experience in waste stream operations.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 3A or 1A Learner’s Licence, with the ability to obtain a 1A Driver’s Licence within two attempts.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid, recognized first aid certificate.
- Knowledge of solid waste operations, particularly disposal and recycling.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to regularly and consistently attend work to ensure effective operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to follow, all applicable procedures and policies.
- Ability to understand and execute instructions.
- Ability to participate in training sessions, including WHMIS, customer service, and used oil collection facility operations.
- Physical ability to perform assigned duties.
- Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) upon offer of employment.
Team & Environment
You will work within the Utilities and Environment division, specifically the Water and Waste Operations department, reporting directly to the Supervisor VI.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $30.35 CAD per hour (2026 rates).

This is an onsite position located at the Saskatoon Regional Waste Management Centre (Landfill).
