University of Chicago was looking for a Laboratory Schools: Programming Manager, Family Life Programs

The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools seeks a Programming Manager to provide leadership and creative direction for the Extended Day and Lab Adventurers/Explorers programs. This role is central to offering safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate enrichment experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence for students from nursery through 8th grade.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee comprehensive planning, implementation, and evaluation of program initiatives.
  • Collaborate with FLP assistant directors to deliver and enhance campus-specific Extended Day programming.
  • Design and maintain a diverse and engaging curriculum aligned with the Laboratory Schools’ educational mission.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate program staff to ensure high-quality instruction and alignment with best practices.
  • Serve as a primary contact for Lab Adventurer/Explorer families and staff, gathering input to drive improvements.
  • Collect and analyze ongoing feedback to enhance program quality and parent satisfaction.
  • Conduct observations, assess staff performance, and provide actionable feedback.
  • Work with administrative teams on scheduling, logistics, staffing, budget management, and program coordination.
  • Ensure all program operations meet safety protocols, policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Utilize technology platforms and traditional methods for registration, attendance, documentation, and communication.
  • Promote ongoing professional development and team-building among program staff.
  • Market student activities programming throughout the year.
  • Develop and implement protocols for evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Advise and recommend concepts for programming to leaders of various organizations and programs.

What We're Looking For

  • College or university degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree.
  • Two years experience in student enrichment programs or youth education, with supervisory and program development experience valued.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and ability to learn new administrative or registration platforms.
