Canonical is hiring a Junior Project Manager

As a Junior Project Manager, you'll play a key role in guiding software initiatives across a fully remote, international organization. Your focus will be on maintaining project integrity—ensuring deliverables meet expectations for timeline, scope, budget, and resource allocation—while working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor project execution to ensure adherence to schedule, cost, and resource plans
  • Identify technical and operational risks early and help implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain alignment and ensure customer needs remain central
  • Support regular progress reviews and business-facing updates with clients
  • Coordinate third-party delivery timelines critical to project success
  • Promote appropriate technology solutions from the company’s portfolio based on project needs

What We’re Looking For

You have a technical academic background or a strong alternative path into the tech industry. You communicate clearly and confidently in English, both in writing and presentations. You’re proactive, results-driven, and comfortable speaking up with ideas or feedback.

Leadership experience during your studies, a history of exceeding expectations, and personal tech projects demonstrate your initiative. You thrive in diverse, multicultural settings and bring curiosity, accountability, and self-direction to your work. Occasional international travel (up to two weeks, twice a year) is expected for company events.

Work Environment & Benefits

This is a fully distributed role with team members working remotely since 2004. We meet in person 2–4 times a year for collaborative sprints. You’ll receive a personal learning budget of USD 2,000 annually, performance-based bonuses, annual compensation reviews, and recognition programs.
