CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is hiring a (Junior) Data Centre ICT Network Technician to join the Deploy & Run team within our ICT Operations group. In this hands-on role, you will ensure the operational excellence of a global production network, supporting mission-critical infrastructure through physical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
What You'll Do
- Rack and stack servers and network equipment.
- Perform fiber and copper cabling, maintenance, and documentation.
- Conduct hardware swaps, break/fix tasks, and coordinate RMAs.
- Manage physical access control and provide escort services.
- Offer smart hands support for remote engineering teams.
- Monitor environmental conditions and respond to incidents.
- Manage inventory and spare parts using RFID systems.
- Execute change management and preventive maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, SOC, HIPAA, and other industry standards.
- Perform monthly audits and implement security best practices.
- Develop and maintain monitoring and automation tools.
- Conduct Netbox data entry and infrastructure audits.
- Liaise with facility maintenance and change management teams.
- Collaborate on network capacity analysis and expansion projects across data centers and Points of Presence (PoPs).
- Provide Tier 1 support for switch provisioning, server build failures, and physical layer network defects.
- Perform DNS mapping, connectivity troubleshooting, automation verification, and network audits.
- Lead switch swaps, appliance replacements, and RMA processes.
- Diagnose Layer 1 issues using OTDR, OTLS, VFL, and inspection tools.
- Partner with engineering teams on structured cabling and switch uplifts.
- Drive operational excellence through root cause analysis and solution implementation.
- Conduct link stability studies and recommend performance enhancements.
- Participate in internal working groups to evaluate emerging technologies.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- A strong understanding of IP networking, VLANs, routing, optics, and Layer 2/3 protocols.
- 2+ years of experience with BGP, MPLS, L3VPN, VPLS, Multicast, CoS, TCP, IPv4/IPv6.
- Proven experience in data center environments and network engineering roles.
- Familiarity with CLOS architecture and structured cabling (SMF/MMF).
- Vendor management experience in logistics and infrastructure deployment.
Nice to Have
- A BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of scripting experience with Python, Perl, or similar.
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, REST/gRPC, or NETCONF.
- Network certifications such as CCNP or JNCIS or equivalent.
- Experience with open-source NOS and hardware/software development.
- Hands-on experience with new hardware platform deployment.
