MiWay seeks a Java Developer to join our team. In this role, you will analyze business requirements and translate them into robust technical designs that align with Discovery Life’s architectural standards. You will oversee solution implementation by coaching and mentoring junior developers to maintain high-quality outputs.
What You'll Do
- Participate in Business Requirement or Architecture JAD sessions.
- Analyze Business / Architecture Requirements and clarify unknowns with stakeholders.
- Perform thorough Impact Analysis and supply accurate development effort estimates.
- Formulate technical solutions and review with Systems Analysts, the development team, and Development Manager.
- Produce a Technical Design document using the standard template and in accordance with Discovery Life standards.
- If required, prepare Logical view diagrams for database work and liaise with Database Architects.
- Participate in technical analysis JAD Sessions with all Stakeholders.
- Execute manual code reviews per Life Tech Forum standards.
- Ensure Unit and Systems Integration testing is conducted and defects are fixed before handover.
- Work with the Test Analyst to ensure sufficient and accurate testing coverage.
What We're Looking For
- Matric certification.
- Formal software development qualification(s), such as Object-Oriented Analysis & Design.
- IT-related degree or diploma (BSc/BTech or similar).
- At least 5 years of experience in software development.
- Proficiency in Java, OO, J2EE, XML, HTML, UML, and the SDLC.
Nice to Have
- At least 6 years of experience in Java source code design and development.
- Experience with data modelling and Oracle PL/SQL.
