JetBrains is hiring a Java Developer Advocate (Developer Advocacy)

JetBrains develops cutting-edge professional integrated development environments and collaborative software solutions. We are seeking a technology evangelist with comprehensive technical expertise in Java and its surrounding technological ecosystem — encompassing contemporary JVM frameworks like Spring, Micronaut, Quarkus, and associated development and testing utilities. Within our advocacy team, our fundamental mission involves empowering developers. Ideal candidates are autonomous professionals: initiating tasks, strategically planning, coordinating across organizational units, and independently completing projects with minimal oversight. We're searching for an individual deeply immersed in Java and JVM technologies: comprehending language progression, understanding enterprise and cloud-native developer requirements, and recognizing developer experiences across the JVM landscape. The selected candidate must persuasively articulate how our products can meaningfully enhance developer productivity within the Java ecosystem. We seek experienced, passionate, empathetic professionals prepared to influence our strategic roadmap through industry insights and developer feedback. In this role, you'll: - Highlight and elucidate various Java technological dimensions using our product portfolio (via speaking, multimedia content, blog entries, livestreams, code samples, demonstrations) - Cultivate and sustain industry relationships and reputation through global and regional communities and social networks - Collaborate with community influencers on collaborative promotional initiatives - Provide constructive feedback to product teams and contribute to roadmap development - Engage with customers, educate them about our offerings, and channel their insights to product teams - Represent our products in media communications - Contribute flexibly across JetBrains organizational domains We'll be enthusiastic to have you if you possess: - Practical software engineering expertise: testing, refactoring, version control methodologies - Hands-on experience with Java frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Quarkus; deployment knowledge in Docker, Kubernetes, related technologies - Comprehensive understanding of JVM toolchains, build systems, testing frameworks - Fluent English communication skills - Developer advocacy background - Exceptional communication capabilities, particularly narrative technology storytelling - Strong self-management and goal-oriented skills - Willingness to travel We'd be particularly excited if you have: - Established reputation within Java development communities - Familiarity with JetBrains tooling - Proficiency across multiple programming languages - Experience working in distributed, diverse team environments - Extensive speaking engagement and screencast portfolio
