McGill University is seeking an IT Assistant B -W26 to act as a technical facilitator for in-person and remote workshops in areas like programming, data science, and machine learning. This role supports the University’s academic mission by ensuring the smooth technical delivery of educational sessions.
What You'll Do
- Act as a technical facilitator for in-person and/or remote workshop delivery, particularly in large classes.
- Provide direct technical support to workshop attendees during scheduled sessions.
- Provide technical support to one or more workshop instructors for in-person and/or remote delivery.
- Attend at least one mandatory meeting.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma.
- One year of relevant experience in the field of work.
- Authorization to work in Canada.
- Willingness to work in the province of Quebec at the McGill campus.
- English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Nice to Have
- Currently registered as a McGill undergraduate or graduate student.
- For Computer Systems Workshops: Preferably students in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- For ML & NLP Workshops: Preferably those with relevant project experience; priority given to coursework such as COMP 551, COMP 345, COMP 550.
- For Advanced Statistics Workshops: Preferably graduate students in Statistics.
- For Data Science in Python/R Workshops: Preferably those with project experience in each language.
- For AI/Society Workshops: Preferably those with programming experience in non-STEM domains.
Team & Environment
You will work under the direction of the immediate supervisor, Kiwon Lee.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $30.00 per hour.
