Moelis is hiring an Investment Banking Analyst

About the Role

Moelis is seeking an Investment Banking Analyst to join its team. This role provides comprehensive exposure to all facets of the GP-led secondary market, including continuation vehicles, tender offers, structured preferred equity, and financing solutions for sponsors. The Analyst will collaborate with professionals across the firm to deliver high-quality strategic advice to clients.

What You'll Do

  • Perform company- and fund-level due diligence and prepare marketing materials and transaction documentation.
  • Conduct financial analysis and modeling, including LBOs, continuation fund models, and waterfalls.
  • Assist in managing buy-side investor outreach and due diligence processes, including meetings and site visits.
  • Prepare responses to due diligence requests from potential secondary investors.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with Moelis’ industry and financial sponsor coverage teams.
  • Maintain databases of secondary market transactions, investor profiles, and broader market data.
  • Communicate regularly with buy-side investors such as secondary funds, family offices, and sovereign wealth funds.
  • Conduct secondary market and industry research to identify trends in alternative investments.
  • Perform ad hoc industry research as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 1-2 years of post-college financial services experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, or related fields.
  • An undergraduate degree.
  • Understanding of the private equity and secondaries industry.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and financial concepts, with the ability to analyze and value businesses.
  • A drive for results and the ability to perform well under pressure against tight deadlines.
  • A team player mentality and the ability to interact effectively with diverse internal groups and clients.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent analytical and presentation abilities.
  • Exceptional skills in the Microsoft Office suite, with Excel being a must, and strong financial reporting skills.

Nice to Have

  • An academic focus in finance, business, accounting, economics, or mathematics.

Technical Stack

  • Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel.

Team & Environment

You will work closely with professionals throughout the firm, including Moelis’ industry and financial sponsor coverage team members.
