The Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County is seeking an Internal Auditor 1. This Civil Service position performs a range of auditing duties, assisting the Metropolitan Auditor by applying a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, financial reporting, service delivery, and governance processes.
What You'll Do
- Perform assigned audit project tasks independently.
- Develop audit scope, objective, and methodology.
- Conduct regular onsite inspections.
- Perform preliminary planning, including individual and group interviews.
- Provide qualitative and quantitative data collection, transference, and reproduction.
- Meet agenda and results documentation requirements.
- Work on paper preparation, indexing, and organization.
- Report and correspond in preparation of audits.
- Perform assigned audit quality assurance support duties.
- Review and verify work papers, verifications, and cross-references.
- Review reports and verify data.
- Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must become a resident of the State of Tennessee within six (6) months of employment.
Nice to Have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, English, Public Administration, or Public Policy.
- Experience working with government auditing standards and procedures.
- Experience analyzing financial and operational data.
- Pursuing certification as a CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA, or other applicable professional designation.
Team & Environment
