About the Role

BMW Group is offering an internship for a Generative AI in Engineering role. You will support a multidisciplinary team applying generative AI to transform engineering processes. The focus is on developing machine learning models for CAE and numerical simulations, integrating them into agent-based workflows for product development.

What You'll Do

  • Support a team applying generative AI to the engineering domain.
  • Develop a deep understanding of machine learning models for CAE processes with a focus on numerical simulations.
  • Contribute to benchmarking and improving methods that understand relationships between geometries, text, video, and engineering knowledge.
  • Assist in integrating these methods into agent-based workflows supporting simulation evaluation and product development.
  • Collaborate with external partners ranging from startups to hyperscalers and leading AI labs.

What We're Looking For

  • Studies in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field at Master degree level.
  • Programming experience in Python and practical knowledge of deep learning frameworks, particularly PyTorch.
  • Experience with LLMs/VLMs and their application in agentic frameworks in a real-world project.
  • Technical understanding of CAE processes, especially numerical simulations.
  • Scientific mindset and enthusiasm for applying research to real-world challenges.
  • Ability to contribute in a collaborative and organized manner.
  • Strong communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

  • German language skills.
