MyFlorida (Department of Management Services) is hiring an Inspector Specialist

About the Role

MyFlorida's Department of Management Services is hiring an Inspector Specialist for the Division of Motorist Services. You will report directly to the Regional Administrator, implementing licensing and enforcement provisions for motor vehicle field operations and ensuring regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do

  • Implement the licensing and enforcement provisions of Chapter 319, 320, 322, and 324, Florida Statutes, regulations, and policies for regional field operations.
  • Monitor the opening, investigation, resolution, and closing of consumer complaints, maintaining liaison with headquarters and other jurisdictions.
  • Review all Administrative Action documents for completeness and accuracy prior to Regional Administrator approval.
  • Communicate information to the public via department statutory agents regarding motor vehicle and mobile home taxing, titling, and registration services.
  • Serve as the on-site training coordinator for the regional field office, providing hands-on training to office staff.

What We're Looking For

  • Skill in operating a personal computer and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to prepare investigative reports, correspondence, and general reports.
  • Ability to work independently and establish and maintain courteous, professional working relationships.
  • Ability to research and apply motor vehicle titles and registration policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Skill in using the Florida Real-Time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS).
  • Basic knowledge of automotive parts, repairs, and mobile homes.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Subject to a Level 2 background check and Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, including a fingerprint-based FBI records check.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing for three years prior to and during employment, with no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations.
  • No more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, bending, and climbing.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in investigative report writing.
  • Related experience in automotive parts and repair.
