Sonoco is hiring an Inspector Packer to join our manufacturing team on a swing shift schedule. You will play a key role in inspecting and packaging products, upholding our quality standards, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
What You'll Do
- Make boxes and apply appropriate labels.
- Transfer product to packaging using hands, packing forks, or other methods.
- Inspect products for conformance to specifications.
- Utilize gauges to check basic dimensions and other specifications.
- Notify the operator or supervisor when quality problems are detected.
- Discard product that does not meet specifications.
- Seal containers and place them on skids using a box lifter.
- Perform duties in accordance with all safety rules and use safe work methods.
- Work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously as needed.
- Gain a working knowledge of products and their quality requirements during training.
- Communicate with supervisors and peers, maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships.
- Work overtime as required.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
- Manual dexterity required with the ability to use both hands for packing.
- Ability to stand and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to relate well to others and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must be reliable, have good initiative, be committed, and be quality-focused.
Nice to Have
- 1-2 years of manufacturing experience.
