Fresenius Medical Care North America is hiring an Inpatient Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Dialysis. In this role, you will function as an essential part of the hemodialysis health care team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver patient care under RN supervision, monitor treatment, and maintain compliance with policies and regulations.
What You'll Do
- Provide patient care under the direct visual supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Report and document all new and unusual incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the supervising RN.
- Promote and assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Support Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAI) activities.
- Promote and assist in meeting Total Area Productivity (TAP) goals.
- Set up and prime equipment for renal replacement therapies as directed.
- Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their well-being since their last treatment.
- Evaluate vascular access for patency and report any unusual findings.
- Obtain necessary pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight.
- Perform vascular access cannulation.
- Calculate and enter individual patients’ dialysis machine programming for Ultrafiltration goal, treatment time, Sodium modeling, and UF modeling.
- Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled, including narrow venous limits.
- Record accurate and timely information regarding vital signs and treatment parameters.
- Initiate renal replacement treatment according to prescribed orders, including setting blood flow and dialysate flow rates.
- Collect and label specimens and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory.
- Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed.
- Monitor the patient’s response to dialysis therapy and report any unusual findings.
- Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion and perform functions for discontinuation of treatment.
- Perform and document any intervention for unusual patient status.
- Evaluate patients’ vascular access during treatment, including arterial and venous monitoring pressures.
- Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures.
- Evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access and obtain hemostasis.
- Perform and record pre and post-dialysis evaluations, weight, and vital signs.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma.
- 1 – 2 years’ related experience.
- Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Certification (CCHT).
Team & Environment
You will report directly to a Registered Nurse (FMCNA RN) as part of the hemodialysis health care team.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at Grady Hospital - 80 Jesse Hill Jr. Dr. Atlanta, GA 30303.
