Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is looking for an Infrastructure and Operation Engineer to join our team. You will provide critical operational support for our VMware NSX product, including firewall configurations, daily operations, break fixes, and maintenance. This role is central to ensuring the reliability of our NSX infrastructure and partners closely with engineering teams.
What You'll Do
- Own firewall configurations (add, delete, modify) for the NSX infrastructure.
- Own daily operations and break fixes for NSX Infrastructure.
- Work with NSX Engineering to roll out necessary maintenance activities.
- Collaborate closely with the NSX Engineering team for configuration updates and troubleshooting failures impacting operations.
- Serve as the front-line for NSX Engineering through an on-call rotation.
- Work with the Migration team on Gateway-Cutovers and Post-Migration Cleanups.
- Handle day-to-day operations for NSX, including Incidents, Changes, Problem Tasks, and Monitoring.
- Perform NSX Infrastructure Maintenance like rolling reboots, configuration changes and updates, and firewall cleanup.
- Provide third-level ESX support for Operations.
- Provide third-level vSphere support for Operations.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of VMware vSphere experience.
- 3+ years of Windows Administration Experience.
- 3+ years of Linux Administration Experience.
- 1+ years of VMware NSX experience.
- 1+ year of experience with C#, PowerShell, and/or other scripting tools.
- Experience working in an ITIL environment.
- Working knowledge of network fundamentals (e.g., LAN/WAN).
Nice to Have
- Experience working in an ITIL environment.
- Understanding of VCF, vRops, and VRNI.
- Experience with any scripting language like PowerShell.
- Knowledge of Bash shell, Perl, Python, or C.

Team & Environment
The NSX Operational Services team is a geographically distributed group of 5 resources, located in India and US locations. The team follows a shift roster and an on-call roster.
