Sonoco is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician to achieve the highest level of equipment reliability at our Forest City, NC facility. In this role, you will apply advanced training to perform maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to keep plant equipment in 'Like New' condition and minimize downtime.
What You'll Do
- Adhere to and exemplify all safety policies and procedures, identifying and reducing risks.
- Create, document, and perform strong preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to eliminate equipment failures.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and safely, implementing corrective actions and communicating plans to prevent recurrence.
- Communicate effectively with operations personnel to resolve abnormal equipment conditions impacting safety, quality, or productivity.
- Participate in proactive maintenance activities like FMEAs, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and Analytical Troubleshooting (ATS).
- Document all work thoroughly to capture historical data for future analysis.
- Maintain exceptional housekeeping standards in personal and work areas.
- Identify and use proper tools for each job, avoiding damaged equipment.
- Perform precision welding, operate shop tools (lathes, drills, milling machines), and read mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, improve reliability of, and precision install mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, piping, electrical, and robotic equipment.
- Develop, modify, read, troubleshoot, and install PLC programs.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair AC and DC drives and motors.
- Fabricate and install various electrical, piping, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field training.
- Strong communication and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive maintenance and reliability mindset.
- Willingness to complete certification through Sonoco’s Apprenticeship Program or Red Vector Training Program.
- Ability to promote to higher maintenance positions and to invoke and implement change.
Nice to Have
- 4+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience OR 4+ years of military experience in a technical field.
- Prior injection molding work experience is highly preferred.
