Climate Catalyst is looking for an India Communications Consultant to grow our communications function in India and build capacity within Indian civil society for an ambitious narrative around steel decarbonisation. You will join a mission-driven organization galvanizing collective power to influence and accelerate climate policy change.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with the Global Communications team and India Network Manager to plan and deliver a learning series for the India Green Steel Network.
- Develop and craft a narrative for accelerated steel decarbonisation in India with the Global Communications Team, India Programme team, and network members.
- Engage with network members to ensure wide pick-up of our collective narrative, including developing materials and hosting workshops.
- Lead coordination of the India Green Steel Network communications working group to promote collaboration and deliver traditional and digital media activities.
- Monitor public narratives to evidence examples of narrative pick-up.
- Create compelling communication materials, translating complex information into understandable content.
- Lead creation of written content, including press releases, opinion pieces, and blog posts.
- Support the Digital lead to develop content for priority social media platforms.
- Support the India Programme team with development of materials for events, including slide decks.
- Ensure all content is aligned with Climate Catalyst branding and the broader steel decarbonisation narrative.
- Collaborate with teams to develop and maintain press lists and journalist relationships in India, regionally, and globally.
- Monitor media coverage and narratives to identify opportunities to strengthen media work.
What We're Looking For
- A strong track record in delivering communication strategies and activities to achieve policy impact.
- Traditional media experience including strategy development, writing press releases and opinion pieces, and pitching stories.
- Experience creating written communications materials.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to translate complex information into easily digestible content.
- Experience leading narrative development and messaging projects, particularly in collaboration with partners and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with climate and energy policy in India and regionally.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse set of partners and team members with different working styles and across time zones.
- A results-driven approach with a strong focus on achieving programme impact through communications.

- Existing relationships with Indian media, including trade, industry, and climate journalists.
