Black Duck Software is hiring an Implementation Specialist for SylogistEd to implement finance functionality for K–12 school districts. You will serve as the subject-matter expert on district financial operations, working closely with school business officials to set up accounting and payroll solutions accurately and ensure smooth transitions. This is a remote position with occasional travel required.
What You'll Do
- Configure and implement the Finance, Accounts Payable, Treasurer, and Purchase Requisition modules within the SylogistEd K–12 accounting suite.
- Analyze district financial, purchasing, procurement, budgeting, and workflow structures to ensure proper system setup.
- Oversee financial data migration activities, including importing, validating, and reconciling district data.
- Perform financial testing with district personnel to confirm accuracy of general ledger balances, journal entries, and reports.
- Document business processes, configuration steps, and district-specific financial requirements.
- Deliver end-user training for district finance administrators, staff, and business managers.
- Develop supporting materials such as guides, documentation, and recorded training sessions.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to execute project plans, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Participate in weekly status meetings and provide clear updates on progress.
- Act as the primary contact for customer finance-related issues during implementation.
- Contribute to project success criteria and ensure implementations are completed on time, within scope, and to satisfaction.
- Assist in testing and providing feedback on new product features prior to release.
- Serve as an internal finance subject-matter expert, supporting team members with functional guidance.
- Partner with Product and Development teams on enhancement requests and validation of new finance functionality.
- Participate in post-project reviews to support continuous process improvement.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field; or a minimum of 3+ years of experience in a K–12 school district business office, preferably within finance.
- Strong understanding of finance concepts including general ledger, trial balance, journal entries, purchasing, payment processing, budgeting, and coding restrictions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort navigating cloud-based applications.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and customer-focused.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel occasionally (typically under 25%).
Nice to Have
- Experience with SylogistEd, SunPac, or similar K–12 accounting systems.
- Knowledge of state and federal reporting requirements for educational institutions.
- Experience delivering training or workshops to end users.
