California State University, Northridge is hiring an HR Payroll Systems Support professional to join a team making a difference in providing access to higher education. This role supports a broad range of systemwide payroll-related projects and tasks at the CSU Chancellor's Office, handling confidential employment data and serving as a key contact for payroll inquiries.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a contact for systemwide payroll-related inquiries, analyzing, researching, and responding to questions from various departments and the State Controller’s Office.
- Assist in preparing correspondence and coded memo communications concerning systemwide payroll matters.
- Update, maintain, and coordinate payroll-related online content on HRM Payroll Resources web pages, SharePoint sites, and state manuals.
- Prepare Pay Letters/coded memo communications and other salary-related communications to the campuses.
- Coordinate PIMS Manual updates with HR Data Operations and the State Controller’s Office to ensure current and accurate information.
- Provide support in preparing cyclical and project-oriented coded memos and reports, coordinating distribution according to timelines.
- Utilize the CIRS database to extract employment history and payroll information from the PIMS system to respond to inquiries.
- Participate in and schedule HRM and Labor meetings, preparing meeting documents related to collective bargaining.
- Gather and document all department procedures working with subject matter experts.
- Participate and assist in planning and coordinating the annual Payroll and Benefits conference.
- Support and participate in Payroll Managers meetings and other payroll-related webcasts, preparing announcements and materials.
- Participate in committees and workgroups such as EHDB Standardization, HR Business Processes, and CHRS committees.
- Assist on special projects as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Two to four years of experience working in a highly professional capacity with demonstrated comprehensive experience and knowledge of HR systems and payroll processing.
- Minimum two years of experience in a human resources environment in a complex organization to include human resources project management, information, and reporting.
- Strong research, analytical and technical skills.
- Strong professional and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Proficient knowledge of standard office software and database applications, with ability to develop skills to effectively use new software applications.
- Demonstrate initiative in troubleshooting, problem solving, and possession of critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple priorities, coordinating multiple tasks simultaneously and independently setting priorities.
