Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Histology Technician for a casual, rotational role at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH). You will work under supervision to perform routine and special histological procedures on patient specimens.
What You'll Do
- Embed, section, accurately label, and process tissue sections according to departmental policies to produce slides for pathologist review.
- Operate, calibrate, check, and maintain instrumentation, recognizing problems with quality control and taking appropriate corrective action.
- Perform routine and special staining procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations.
- Assist with the collection of anatomic pathology specimens.
- Mentor students and new employees in laboratory testing following WPAHS policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- HT (ASCP) certification or eligibility, with certification required to be obtained within one (1) year of hire or transfer.
Nice to Have
- One year of clinical histology experience.
Work Mode
This position is onsite at Allegheny General Hospital.
