A financial services organization based in Cape Town is seeking a Mandarin-speaking KYC Verification Officer to strengthen its compliance operations. In this role, you will play a key part in onboarding new customers by reviewing and validating identification documents and personal information to confirm authenticity.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine customer-submitted documents and data for accuracy and compliance with onboarding standards
- Conduct outbound verification calls to clients, primarily in Mandarin, to confirm identity and transaction intent
- Stay current with evolving KYC, AML, and fraud prevention regulations
- Identify and escalate unusual or potentially suspicious account activity
- Meet daily and monthly performance benchmarks while maintaining high accuracy
- Deliver clear, professional communication to support customer experience
- Support team objectives during peak periods and process updates
- Take initiative in improving personal knowledge and procedural understanding
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification
- At least two years of experience in KYC, compliance, or a related field
- Fluent in spoken Mandarin; additional Asian language skills are beneficial
- Familiarity with anti-money laundering principles and fraud detection
- Understanding of customer due diligence rules and financial compliance frameworks
- Knowledge of international money transfer systems and processes
