Role OverviewThe Health & Safety Advisor plays a key role in mentoring and coaching operations managers and teams on Kal Tire's Health and Safety Management System (HSMS). This position supports corporate safety objectives, reduces risk and losses, and ensures compliance across multiple locations in British Columbia and Alberta. Regular travel to assigned sites is required.
Key Responsibilities- Mentor, guide, and coach operations managers and team members on HSMS requirements and implementation.
- Conduct site visits to assess health and safety practices including operational controls, risk management, training, emergency response, incident reporting, inspections, and recordkeeping.
- Develop and communicate reports and action plans following site audits.
- Collaborate with regional management to align local safety efforts with corporate objectives.
- Provide technical advice on hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.
- Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend preventative actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs and educational materials.
- Monitor injury and incident data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Review applicable legislation to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support the Disability Management Team and guide operations on return-to-work processes and injury prevention.
- Participate in operational meetings and deliver safety-related presentations as needed.
- Minimum 3 years of full-time experience in a health and safety role.
- Degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
- In-depth knowledge of provincial safety legislation and ability to interpret and apply relevant Acts and Regulations.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and reporting.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and research abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
- Current or past COR auditor certification.
- Experience in automotive, transport, manufacturing, or mining industries.
This is a hybrid role with remote flexibility and regular travel to locations in Vancouver, Lower Mainland (BC), other areas of BC, and Alberta.
