EMD Serono is seeking a Head of Performance Marketing to join its global Digital & eCommerce team. In this high-visibility role, you will be responsible for developing short and long-term performance marketing strategies across channels like Paid Search, Display, Video, Social, and Programmatic to drive profitable growth for our multi-billion-dollar global eCommerce business. You will provide a forward-looking vision for channel evolution and serve as the authority on performance marketing strategy.
What You'll Do
- Develop short and long-term performance marketing strategies.
- Own a full-funnel strategy balancing demand capture with demand creation and brand-building.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with eCommerce, Commercial, Product, Supply Chain, Finance, and regional teams to build paid media plans.
- Strengthen revenue-contributing channels while exploring new channels for growth.
- Anticipate and plan for the future of performance marketing, including agentic AI, search transformation, and emerging media.
- Be the global authority on performance marketing strategy and investment.
- Develop annual and long-term performance marketing strategies.
- Responsible for strategy, planning, and execution of paid media programs to meet or exceed financial targets.
- Determine the optimal media mix across all channels.
- Identify and incubate emerging paid media channels and tactics, building business cases and scaling those with incremental value.
- Translate business growth priorities into actionable media investment strategies.
- Oversee all performance marketing channels, including paid search, Shopping, display, social, and programmatic.
- Contribute to developing the vision and implementation of the MarTech roadmap for customer-centric marketing and personalization at scale.
- Build and develop a high-performing team by attracting and retaining top talent.
- Drive strategic initiatives forward with agility in a highly matrixed global environment.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree or direct experience in performance or digital marketing.
- 10 or more years of relevant experience with a minimum of 6 years hands-on developing media plans and directly executing performance marketing campaigns.
- Experience in marketing roles with direct impact on revenue and sales.
- Experience managing an 8-figure advertising budget.
- Experience managing multiple layers of direct reports and managing external agencies.
Nice to Have
- Experience building emerging channels from pilot stage into scalable revenue contributors.
- Mastery in full-funnel heavy-up campaigns targeting customers across their purchase journey.
- Experience across MarTech and Data & Analytics platforms.

You will be part of the global Digital & eCommerce team, collaborating with colleagues across North America, EMEA, and APAC.
Work Mode
This position follows a hybrid work model and is based in either St. Louis, MO or the Burlington, MA/Greater Boston Area.
