Elsevier is seeking a Head of North America Analytical Editorial Operations, a strategic leadership role responsible for driving content portfolio strategy, operational excellence, and enterprise change management. You will ensure analytical content is commercially aligned and delivered through scalable, AI-enabled workflows with rigorous quality and governance.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Segment and Commercial leaders to translate market and customer needs into portfolio priorities, content initiatives, and launch readiness.
- Lead a multi-layered leadership team (directors and managers), ensuring strong accountability, coaching, succession planning, and consistent performance management.
- Drive transformation for AI-enabled, agentic delivery, ensuring analytical content is optimized for accuracy, currency, structure/metadata, and explainability within AI-powered customer experiences.
- Sponsor adoption of AI-assisted workflows with strong human-in-the-loop standards and governance.
- Partner with Product and Technology to shape roadmaps, define requirements, and lead/guide project teams through execution.
- Own budgets and cost efficiency, including multi-million-dollar author and contractor spend, resourcing strategy, and operating plans.
- Build and scale the external author pool, including scaling recruitment, onboarding, and retention of high-caliber experts.
- Establish KPI discipline and high-quality reporting, creating a single source of truth for quality, currency, throughput, cycle time, and cost efficiency.
- Stay market-savvy, maintaining strong awareness of legal practice developments, competitive landscape, and emerging AI trends.
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Significant leadership experience in legal content or adjacent knowledge/content businesses, including managing leaders and leading change in matrixed environments.
- Strong product fluency and proven ability to steer cross-functional programs from concept to delivery with Product and Technology partners.
- Demonstrated budget ownership, resource planning, and operational efficiency execution while maintaining quality and risk controls.
- Advanced AI fluency—proven ability to set strategy and governance for AI-assisted content at scale.
- Comfort with large datasets, dashboards (e.g., Tableau), and Excel; ability to translate metrics into strategy and actions.
- Executive-level communication skills; comfortable with stakeholder presentations on KPIs, progress, risks, and tradeoffs.
