As Head of Mobile, you will lead the development and evolution of a mobile product serving more than half a million users. This role blends deep technical execution with strategic ownership, requiring regular contributions in code alongside high-impact architectural decisions. You'll work directly within the mobile stack, tackling core challenges in real-time communication, particularly around VoIP, SIP, and WebRTC systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the direction and quality of the mobile product, from architecture to deployment
- Write and review production code for both iOS and Android platforms
- Solve difficult engineering problems related to call reliability, latency, and network variability
- Ensure consistent performance across diverse global conditions and device ecosystems
- Integrate and optimize real-time communication features in the app
- Collaborate across systems, contributing to backend services and APIs when necessary
- Ship features rapidly while maintaining stability and scalability
- Deliver solutions that impact millions of users worldwide
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience building and shipping mobile applications for both iOS and Android over 6+ years
- Hands-on knowledge of VoIP technologies, including practical implementation of SIP or WebRTC
- Strong background in native development with Swift, Kotlin, Java, or Objective-C
- Experience working with React Native or similar cross-platform frameworks
- Familiarity with carrier-level constraints and call quality optimization
- Ability to move quickly without sacrificing code quality or system stability
- Comfort operating in fast-paced, uncertain environments with evolving requirements
- Track record of ownership, demonstrated through shipped products or open-source contributions
Preferred Background
- Experience launching apps in international markets, particularly outside the US
- Understanding of device fragmentation, localization, and regional network differences
- Background in telecom or CPaaS companies
- Startup experience, especially in early-stage product development
- Knowledge of global telephony infrastructure and communication standards
