What You'll Do
Lead financial strategy and execution for a rapidly scaling technology business following Series A funding. Partner directly with the CEO and General Manager to define and refine pricing models for both marketplace and SaaS offerings, aligning commercial goals with financial sustainability.
Take full ownership of financial control and reporting, including month-end close, P&L and balance sheet analysis, revenue and inventory reconciliations, and preparation of investor-grade financial updates. Ensure accuracy and timeliness across all statutory and management reporting cycles.
Drive cashflow and working capital management, overseeing forecasting, Opex funding decisions, and foreign exchange planning. Develop and implement hedging strategies to mitigate currency risk in a trading environment.
Manage critical accounting functions including commission accounting, margin deposits, derivatives, equity accounting, and revenue recognition. Oversee payroll processing, commission calculations, and PAYE compliance across the organisation.
Lead tax strategy and compliance: file VAT and Corporate Tax returns, manage R&D tax credit claims, and assess permanent establishment risks. Oversee employee equity administration, including option grants and cancellations, and ensure proper HMRC valuations and accounting treatment.
Supervise external relationships with auditors, banks, and insurers. Mentor internal finance resources and respond to investor and board-level financial inquiries with clarity and precision.
Requirements
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience in a senior finance leadership role such as Lead Controller or Head of Finance
- Proven track record in building or improving financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks
- Deep understanding of UK financial regulations, statutory reporting, audit coordination, and tax compliance (VAT, Corporate Tax)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing invoice or debt financing facilities and optimising working capital
- Familiarity with foreign exchange hedging, margin requirements, and trading operations in a marketplace context
- Background in administering share option schemes and maintaining cap tables
