Responsibilities
- Translate the product roadmap into engineering execution.
- Drive velocity by parallelizing work and unblocking constraints.
- Get into the code when it matters.
- Hire, mentor and grow top engineers into leaders.
- Partner with product and design to ship with taste and speed.
- Scale engineering culture – Build and lead an org that operates at extreme velocity.
- Own architecture decisions – Balance speed, scalability, and reliability.
- Spec product work – Work directly with the CTO, founders, and product leads to scope, prioritize, and ship.
- Manage velocity – Remove bottlenecks, shorten iteration cycles, and accelerate shipping.
- Grow the team – Attract and level up world-class engineers who thrive in this environment.
Requirements
- Consumer product experience – Built and scaled consumer-facing apps with taste and user obsession.
- Startup leadership – Been through 0→1 and 1→100 at a high-growth consumer company.
- Engineering leadership – Scaled beyond the founding team without losing velocity.
- Technical depth – Strong coding background, comfortable reviewing and making architecture calls.
- Velocity mindset – Moves at an extreme pace, unblocks, parallelizes, and accelerates work.
- Based in San Francisco – Thrives in a fast-moving, in-person culture.
