Superpower is hiring a Head of Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Translate the product roadmap into engineering execution.
  • Drive velocity by parallelizing work and unblocking constraints.
  • Get into the code when it matters.
  • Hire, mentor and grow top engineers into leaders.
  • Partner with product and design to ship with taste and speed.
  • Scale engineering culture – Build and lead an org that operates at extreme velocity.
  • Own architecture decisions – Balance speed, scalability, and reliability.
  • Spec product work – Work directly with the CTO, founders, and product leads to scope, prioritize, and ship.
  • Manage velocity – Remove bottlenecks, shorten iteration cycles, and accelerate shipping.
  • Grow the team – Attract and level up world-class engineers who thrive in this environment.

Requirements

  • Consumer product experience – Built and scaled consumer-facing apps with taste and user obsession.
  • Startup leadership – Been through 0→1 and 1→100 at a high-growth consumer company.
  • Engineering leadership – Scaled beyond the founding team without losing velocity.
  • Technical depth – Strong coding background, comfortable reviewing and making architecture calls.
  • Velocity mindset – Moves at an extreme pace, unblocks, parallelizes, and accelerates work.
  • Based in San Francisco – Thrives in a fast-moving, in-person culture.
