The University of Toronto is hiring a Head, Division of General Internal Medicine. You will provide strategic, clinical, administrative, and academic leadership for the Division at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the University. This position includes clinical care, administrative duties, and research, teaching, and/or quality improvement activities aligned with your academic focus.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic, clinical, administrative, and academic leadership across the full scope of the Division's academic and clinical activities.
- Advance excellence in undergraduate, postgraduate, and fellowship education, including the continued implementation of competency-based medical education.
- Support research and innovation, and strengthen quality improvement initiatives.
- Foster an inclusive and collegial academic environment.
- Oversee faculty recruitment, mentorship, and career development.
- Maintain an active clinical and academic practice within the Division.
What We're Looking For
- Hold an MD degree.
- Be certified or eligible for certification in Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Be eligible for licensure in Ontario.
- Be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto.
- Fulfill the academic position description of a Clinician Teacher, Clinician Educator, Clinician Quality Innovator, Clinician Investigator, or Clinician Scientist.
Nice to Have
- Assistant Professors with demonstrated leadership experience relevant to the role may also be considered.
- An accomplished academic leader and mentor with demonstrated excellence in clinical care.
- A strong record of achievement in education and/or research, clinical innovation, implementation, and change management.

You will be the Head of the Division of General Internal Medicine, part of the Department of Medicine, and report to the Physician-in-Chief, Department of Medicine, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $275,000–375,000
Work Mode
This role is onsite at locations including St. George (Downtown Toronto) and Sunnybrook Health Science Centre.
