Position Overview
This role supports research faculty and leadership in the preparation and submission of sponsored project proposals within the field of infectious diseases. The Grant Specialist II ensures proposals meet all regulatory, financial, and administrative requirements prior to submission, serving as a key resource throughout the pre-award process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit grant proposals in coordination with principal investigators and departmental staff.
- Develop and analyze budgets, including cost justifications and resource planning.
- Coordinate internal approvals and secure required signatures through institutional systems.
- Compile regulatory documentation, including biosketches, protocol approvals, and compliance materials.
- Act as a liaison between research teams, department administrators, and central offices such as OSRS.
- Stay current with evolving federal regulations, agency policies, and university procedures.
- Support subaward setup using the SUBS system and transition proposals to post-award teams.
- Maintain an accurate, up-to-date database of all grant submissions, outcomes, and funding status.
- Respond to internal and external requests for grant-related information and reporting.
- Assist leadership with special projects related to research administration and process improvement.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Candidates must have at least two years of relevant experience in research administration or a related field. Familiarity with federal grant guidelines and institutional systems such as RMS and SUBS is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and financial or reporting tools is essential.
Work Environment
This is a remote position with no requirement for a driver’s license. The role operates within a structured research administration framework, emphasizing accuracy, compliance, and collaboration across distributed teams.
