About the Role

Medtronic is looking for a Global Payroll & Shared Services Director to lead payroll administration and HR support for our global workforce of 12,000 employees across 24 countries. This role builds and motivates a team, develops strategy for operational performance, and ensures compliance with regulations and company policy.

What You'll Do

  • Build and motivate a team of payroll analysts, operations managers, and payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely employee payments.
  • Create standard operating procedures for payroll administration and ensure systems comply with company policy and statutory requirements.
  • Develop strategy to drive operational performance and service excellence within the HR Shared Service team.
  • Measure and improve performance against defined delivery and quality standards through harmonizing, automating, and consolidating processes.
  • Analyze, audit, reconcile, and resolve complex payroll administration and employee issues.
  • Ensure payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, GAAP, and applicable regulations.
  • Research and interpret regulatory requirements and resolve tax, withholding, and garnishment issues.
  • Work with system programmers and third-party vendors to deliver payroll system solutions.
  • Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations and service level agreements.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience.
  • Advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience.
  • English proficiency to facilitate efficient global collaboration and communication.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Experience with HR information systems and technologies.
  • Strong financial acumen for strategic business alignment.

Nice to Have

  • Broad management and leadership capability, and detailed functional and operational expertise.
  • Focus on tactical, operational activities for a major program with broad or ongoing impact.

Team & Environment

You will lead a team of payroll analysts and operations managers in a matrixed structure, often directing employee teams and/or vendors who are not direct reports.
