Side is looking for a German Translator to join our team and help bring immersive video game worlds to players. You’ll play a key role in localizing content for some of the biggest game clients and projects globally, ensuring every line reflects the intended tone, style, and cultural nuance.
What You'll Do
- Undertake translation of in-game text, UI, legally-relevant texts, and supporting materials following client guidelines.
- Carry out editorial tasks, including revision and review of translations for linguistic accuracy, consistency, and natural flow.
- Perform creative translation and localization tasks, including developing and maintaining glossaries, style guides, and character profiles.
- Meet project deadlines and productivity targets within a pre-determined localization pipeline.
- Ensure consistency of tone, voice, and terminology across all game content and components.
- Collaborate with fellow translators to review work for cohesion and logical flow.
- Identify and resolve localization issues and bugs found during testing.
- Use translation and project management tools like memoQ and JIRA to track progress and maintain workflow visibility.
- Enter, monitor, and respond to localization queries according to team workflows.
- Assist in onboarding new translators and support candidate test evaluations.
- Work closely with clients on day-to-day language matters to keep content aligned.
- Respond flexibly to evolving project requirements and priorities.
- Ensure team adherence to company Security, Confidentiality, and Health & Safety policies.
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency in both German and English.
- Strong cultural understanding of the German market.
- 1–3 years of experience in translation, localization, or related language services.
- Solid command of CAT tools like memoQ, Trados, or XTM.
- Familiarity with workflow platforms like JIRA or Plunet.
- Excellent linguistic accuracy and attention to detail, with a strong focus on consistency.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to manage independent tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills; adaptable to feedback and shifting project needs.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Committed to upholding company policies, ISO quality standards, GDPR, and client confidentiality.
- Responsible work ethic, promoting safe and supportive working practices.
- Candidate must be located within the UK.
