Onebrief is hiring a Game Play Engineer for our Battle Road team. You will solve cutting-edge technical challenges to deliver excellent player experiences while helping build AtomEngine, our scalable cloud-based simulation and modeling platform.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate closely with designers to iterate on gameplay concepts and ensure features are technically feasible and performant.
- Implement new gameplay systems and player-facing features in AtomEngine using Godot, GDScript, and C++.
- Profile, analyze, and optimize gameplay systems to ensure high performance and responsiveness.
- Design features with a practical understanding of client vs server logic, state replication, and latency impacts.
- Partner with QA and testing teams to validate features, identify edge cases, and iterate on bugs.
- Write and maintain clear technical documentation for system behavior, interfaces, and constraints.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of game engine or gameplay engineering experience.
- Experience shipping and supporting live service games.
- Due to federal contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with popular game engines like Godot, Unity, or Unreal.
- Experience optimizing the performance of systems.
- A mindset focused on player experience at massive scales.
