Oceans is hiring a Senior Accountant to partner with its fast-growing global finance team. This role sits at the intersection of execution and oversight: managing daily transactions, supporting junior team members, and ensuring timely, high-quality reporting to senior leadership.
What You'll Do
- Act as the first point of contact and escalation for junior finance team members based in Sri Lanka.
- Review and provide feedback on reconciliations, journal entries, and data accuracy.
- Manage the shared finance inbox, prioritizing and routing queries, and responding to external messages when appropriate.
- Reconcile bank and crypto accounts on a daily basis.
- Code and post journal entries, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger transactions.
- Investigate and resolve basic client queries related to invoices or payments.
- Allocate crypto transactions accurately within ledgers using tools such as Kraken, ensuring full traceability.
- Drive month-end close processes, ensuring timely completion across the team.
- Consolidate and review team member submissions for completeness and accuracy.
- Deliver P&L and balance sheet commentary to finance leadership, highlighting trends and anomalies.
- Identify gaps and inefficiencies in current workflows and propose solutions.
- Support the development of repeatable, well-documented processes that increase accuracy and reduce rework.
What We're Looking For
- Professional fluency in English, with strong written communication skills for client correspondence.
- A minimum of 5 years in accounting.
- Advanced understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and close processes.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel (including lookups and formulas).
- Comfort supporting junior team members with constructive feedback and review.
- Confidence in explaining trends or irregularities to senior stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- 1–2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
- Experience with—or the ability to quickly learn—crypto transaction reconciliation.
