VirtueStaff seeks a strategic Fractional Procurement Specialist/Manager to oversee the procurement of production-related raw materials for our clients. This remote role involves developing procurement strategies, negotiating with suppliers, and managing supply chain operations to ensure efficient production and optimal costs.
What You'll Do
- Plan and forecast material needs using production planning systems.
- Purchase raw materials including steel (26 gauge galvanized G90), aluminum, copper, zinc, galvanized wire (10 million pounds/year), corrugate, banding, lumber, and stainless steel (316L).
- Manage international suppliers in countries like China and Vietnam.
- Handle tariff exemption applications with the Commerce Department.
- Obtain and manage mill certifications for lot-to-lot traceability.
- Optimize purchasing strategies (e.g., master coil vs sheet purchasing).
- Manage vendor relationships across 4-5 steel suppliers.
- Use an ERP system (Sage 300) and inventory management tools.
- Develop and manage a vendor rating program using the NetStock module.
- Set up KPIs for vendor evaluation (pricing, availability, on-time delivery).
- Generate RFQs and manage supplier responses.
- Forecast relationships between finished goods and raw materials.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Procurement Specialist/Manager or in a similar role, particularly in raw materials procurement.
- Metal procurement experience.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and rating systems.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
Nice to Have
- Experience with MRP (Material Resource Planning) for production materials.
- Experience using NetStock and Sage 300.
