Protege is hiring a Founding Product Manager, Media to spearhead product development for our emerging media business. You will own the product vision and roadmap, translating partner and internal needs into scalable data systems that serve AI developers.
What You'll Do
- Define, prioritize, and execute the product roadmap for Protege's media business, starting with data ingestion, processing, and content searchability.
- Collaborate with external partners and internal teams to deeply understand pain points and prioritize effective solutions.
- Translate abstract challenges, such as partner ingestion bottlenecks, into specific, measurable engineering work.
- Manage the product backlog, trade-offs, and stakeholder communication with precision and transparency.
- Understand how AI developers utilize media embeddings and metadata to ensure data quality aligns with their use cases.
- As a founding team member, contribute to shaping product culture, hiring, and defining processes.
What We're Looking For
- 4–7 years of experience in product management.
- At least 1-2 years of product management experience with data-processing solutions (ingesting, cleaning, transforming, transcoding, delivering).
- Product management experience in an early-stage startup environment.
- Proven ability to work closely with engineers and data scientists to ship complex, multi-system products.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to align business and technical teams around shared goals.
- A structured thinker who thrives in ambiguity and is comfortable owning outcomes from end to end.
- Comfort with early-stage constraints, including limited resources, shifting priorities, and wearing multiple hats.
- Familiarity with media data (file formats, metadata, delivery/storage mechanisms) or the desire and ability to become an expert quickly.
Nice to Have
- Experience with media content management, transcoding, or machine learning pipelines.
- Familiarity with tools like AWS S3, FFMPEG, TwelveLabs, or similar video AI platforms.
- Exposure to retrieval, search, or embedding-based applications.
