About the Role

Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Foundation Vice President of Philanthropy to serve as a visionary leader shaping and executing grantmaking strategies, overseeing high-impact funding initiatives, and building strategic partnerships to drive global change. This role leads multidisciplinary teams across programs, operations, MEL, and communications, guiding philanthropic efforts toward measurable results.

What You'll Do

  • Define and lead multi-year strategic philanthropic plans aligned with long-term organizational goals and ecosystem needs.
  • Oversee a global grantmaking portfolio and ensure alignment with strategy, community impact, and co-funding objectives.
  • Lead a cross-functional team comprising Programs, Operations, MEL, and Communications functions.
  • Act as a public ambassador for the organization’s philanthropic efforts, building trust with stakeholders, donors, and communities.
  • Strengthen systems and policies to support efficient, accountable, and transparent grant operations.
  • Foster internal and external partnerships and ensure equitable, localized, and grantee-centric practices.
  • Cultivate relationships with co-fund donors such as governments, foundations, multilateral organizations, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Guide annual strategic planning through team retreats and cross-departmental collaboration.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 15 years of leadership experience in philanthropy, international development, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in digital development, tech policy, or technology-driven social impact programs.
  • Demonstrated success managing global, multicultural teams in remote environments.
  • Proven ability to design and execute complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives or funding strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of trust-based and collaborative funding models, and evidence-based learning.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and people management skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and cultural awareness.
  • Advanced degree in public policy, international development, philanthropy, or a related discipline.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 40% of the time.
