The Forward Deployment Engineer is a customer-facing technical role responsible for managing the full lifecycle of enterprise customer onboarding and integration with the AI/ML platform. This position acts as a bridge between engineering and customer success, ensuring smooth deployments and gathering insights that inform product improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the complete technical onboarding process for new enterprise customers, from initial kickoff to successful integration
- Create and maintain integration scripts, internal tools, and documentation to reduce time-to-value for customers
- Act as the main technical contact during onboarding, converting customer needs into executable engineering solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration challenges across customer systems, including APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to share customer feedback and help guide product roadmap decisions
- Design reusable onboarding playbooks and internal tooling to improve scalability of deployment processes
- Travel to customer locations when necessary for key onboarding phases or technical workshops
Requirements
- 3 to 6 years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, or technical implementation roles
- Strong proficiency in Python or another backend programming language, with ability to write and understand production-level code
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and standard integration patterns
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and data infrastructure technologies
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Self-driven with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple customer projects simultaneously
- Genuine interest in AI/ML technologies and a passion for helping customers derive value from advanced tools
Nice to Have
- Previous experience working at an AI/ML or developer-focused technology company
- Knowledge of large language models, vector databases, or ML model deployment practices
- Experience operating in enterprise environments with requirements around SSO, VPCs, and data residency
- Background in customer-facing engineering roles such as forward deployment, solutions engineering, or professional services
