About the Role

The role involves evaluating mechanical failures, conducting site inspections, and preparing detailed technical reports for insurance, legal, and risk management clients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site inspections of mechanical systems and equipment after incidents
  • Identify root causes of mechanical failures using engineering principles
  • Document findings through photographs, measurements, and field notes
  • Perform laboratory analysis of failed components when necessary
  • Review design specifications and maintenance records for compliance
  • Apply engineering standards to assess performance and safety
  • Prepare clear and accurate technical reports summarizing investigations
  • Collaborate with other engineers and specialists on complex cases
  • Provide expert opinions on equipment operation and failure modes
  • Support clients in understanding technical aspects of loss events
  • Testify in depositions or legal proceedings when required
  • Maintain detailed records of all investigative activities
  • Stay current with industry standards and failure analysis methods

  • Assess environmental and operational factors contributing to failures
  • Evaluate adherence to manufacturing and installation guidelines
  • Communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders effectively
  • Participate in peer reviews of technical conclusions
