The City of New York's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is hiring a Forensic Analyst to provide investigative and analytical support for cold case homicide and sexual assault investigations. In this role, you will coordinate with law enforcement and forensic laboratories to identify, submit, and manage forensic evidence within the Forensic Science Unit.
What You'll Do
- Assist NYPD Cold Case detectives in identifying unsolved homicide and sexual assault cases with forensic evidence.
- Maintain and assemble a database of unsolved homicide and sexual assault case files.
- Collaborate with the BXDA Forensic Science Unit, NYPD and OCME to identify and submit evidence for forensic testing.
- Assist with investigative genealogy investigations.
- Act as liaison to the NYPD Laboratory for all narcotics, ballistics, and other laboratory sections.
- Order and provide laboratory reports for narcotics, ballistics, and other laboratory sections.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Strategic Enforcement and Intergovernmental Relations Division.
What We're Looking For
- High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described.
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.
Nice to Have
- A Bachelor's degree.
- Two years of criminal justice or forensic science experience.

This role is part of the Forensic Science Unit within the Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County.
Work Mode
This position follows a hybrid work model and is based in Bronx County, New York.
