A Food Service Worker is needed at Camp Mather, operated by SF Recreation & Parks, for the summer of 2026. This role supports food storage, preparation, and service in a high-volume kitchen environment while maintaining strict cleanliness and sanitation standards under immediate supervision.
What You'll Do
- Sets up food counters and tables
- Prepares simple foods such as toast, cereal, sandwiches, salads and boiled eggs
- Prepares food for serving by cutting, slicing and dishing up portions for customers and patients, including special diet preparations
- Washes, cleans and peels potatoes
- Shells peas and otherwise prepares food for cooking
- Operates power tools and equipment used in the preparation of liquid and solid foods
- Serves food to customers and patients in cafeterias, dining halls and hospital wards
- Cleans dishes, utensils, storage spaces, equipment, containers, tables, floors and other areas when required
- Sterilizes food containers
- Performs routine auxiliary tasks such as carrying supplies to and from storage rooms
- Controls the use of meal cards
- Distributes linen supplies
- May assist in the preparation of special diet foods when required
What We're Looking For
- Must work under immediate supervision
- Must be able to perform manual work involved in storage, preparation and serving of food
- Must be able to keep kitchens, dining rooms and associated equipment in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition
- Must follow the policies as described in the Camp Mather 2026 Workplace Policies and Expectations
- Must be available to work from April 19, 2026 to September 25, 2026
- Must be able to work a schedule that includes Sunday and Monday as mandatory workdays
- Must be able to work five days per week, with potential for 10–12 hour shifts or six-day workweeks (limited to 40 hours per week) during high season
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings as required
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors
- Must be able to work in conditions with exposure to sun and high temperatures
- Must be able to regularly encounter bugs and insects
- Must be able to work with various cleaning chemicals
- Must secure own transportation to and from Camp Mather
- Must be able to live in shared housing with up to 1–2 other camp staff

Work Mode
