AECOM is hiring a Flood Modeller / Water Resources Engineer

About the Role

This role involves delivering flood modelling and water resources engineering solutions for a variety of public and private sector projects. The individual will support the design and analysis of sustainable water systems, using industry-standard software and methods to assess flood risk and hydrological impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modelling for river systems, urban drainage, and coastal environments
  • Prepare technical reports and analyses to support environmental and engineering studies
  • Use industry software for 1D and 2D flood simulation and water level prediction
  • Support the development of flood risk management and mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure planning and design
  • Review and interpret topographic, meteorological, and hydrological data
  • Assist in the design of sustainable drainage systems and water management solutions
  • Participate in site assessments and data collection efforts
  • Ensure compliance with relevant technical standards and regulations
  • Present findings to project stakeholders and technical reviewers
  • Contribute to environmental impact assessments and permitting documentation
  • Support emergency flood forecasting and response planning initiatives
  • Evaluate climate change impacts on water resources and flood risk
  • Work with GIS tools to analyze spatial data for watershed studies
  • Assist in developing digital terrain models for floodplain mapping
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies on water-related project approvals
  • Maintain quality assurance in modelling outputs and technical deliverables
  • Support project management activities including scheduling and budget tracking
  • Engage in peer review of engineering models and assumptions
  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs for flood defence structures
  • Apply statistical methods to analyze rainfall and flow data
  • Integrate climate projections into long-term water planning
  • Contribute to proposals and technical bids for new projects
  • Provide technical input during public consultation processes
  • Stay current with advancements in water resources engineering practices
