About the Role
The fitness instructor will design and deliver adapted physical activity programs for older adults, focusing on balance, strength, and overall mobility. Sessions are conducted in community settings with an emphasis on safety, inclusivity, and participant progress.
Responsibilities
- Lead group exercise classes tailored to older adults with varying mobility levels
- Assess individual participant capabilities and adapt exercises accordingly
- Promote safe movement practices to reduce fall risks
- Monitor participants during sessions for safety and engagement
- Maintain accurate attendance and progress records
- Communicate participant feedback to program coordinators
- Deliver sessions in community centers or similar accessible locations
- Follow established program protocols and safety guidelines
- Encourage consistent participant attendance and motivation
- Report any health or safety concerns promptly
- Collaborate with program staff to support overall goals
- Provide clear verbal and visual exercise instruction
- Ensure equipment is used properly and safely
- Adapt routines based on group needs and limitations
- Support a respectful and inclusive class environment
- Participate in scheduled training and team meetings
- Maintain current emergency response certification
- Uphold confidentiality of participant information
- Follow infection control practices during sessions
- Assist with program evaluation activities as needed
- Respond professionally to participant inquiries
- Model positive health and wellness behaviors
- Use age-appropriate music and cues during classes

Compensation
Hourly wage rate commensurate with experience and qualifications
