About the Role
The role involves creating and modifying fire sprinkler system designs using technical drawings and specifications, supporting project execution from concept through installation.
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed fire sprinkler system layouts using AutoCAD and related software
- Interpret architectural and engineering plans to identify system requirements
- Ensure designs comply with NFPA standards and local building codes
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to resolve design issues
- Perform hydraulic calculations to verify system performance
- Revise designs based on client feedback or site conditions
- Prepare submittal documents for approval by authorities having jurisdiction
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for material specifications
- Maintain accurate records of design changes and project revisions
- Support estimating team with takeoffs and system details
- Attend project meetings to discuss design progress and challenges
- Verify compatibility between fire protection systems and building infrastructure
- Adhere to project timelines and deliver design packages on schedule
- Review shop drawings and contractor submittals for accuracy
- Apply knowledge of pipe sizing, hanger spacing, and seismic requirements
- Use design software to generate piping and instrumentation diagrams
- Ensure accessibility of system components for maintenance and inspection
- Integrate fire alarm and suppression system interfaces when required
- Follow company quality assurance procedures for design documentation
- Stay current with changes in fire code regulations and industry practices
