Optum (UnitedHealth Group) is hiring a Financial Consultant

As a Financial Consultant, you will play a key role in shaping financial outcomes by analyzing performance metrics, supporting budget development, and delivering actionable forecasts. You will work hand-in-hand with operations leaders to interpret financial results, identify variances, and provide clear, data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial analysis and deliver reporting to support budget management and quarterly forecasting initiatives.
  • Support the month-end close process by evaluating financial variances and preparing detailed commentary on results.
  • Engage with operational stakeholders to communicate financial performance, including cost trends and variance drivers.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and report on cost management strategies across business units.
  • Deliver custom reports and analyses to meet evolving business needs.
  • Drive process improvements by recognizing inefficiencies and recommending practical solutions.
  • Collaborate across departments through cross-functional projects to align financial goals with operational execution.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, including PivotTables, formula functions, and troubleshooting; familiarity with MS Office suite and other digital tools.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, influencing peers and stakeholders across functions.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and business judgment with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Flexibility to work any 8-hour shift within standard business hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.).

Preferred Experience

  • Background in healthcare finance.
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase, PeopleSoft, or MPWR systems.
  • Exposure to financial modeling and forecasting techniques.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $72,800 to $130,000. Additional offerings include equity stock purchase options, incentive and recognition programs, and a 401k contribution.
