Responsibilities
- Verify financial eligibility for patients before medical services are provided.
- Show expertise in all stages of financial clearance, such as appointment coordination, insurance validation, cost projection, collecting authorizations, pre-certification, and assessing medical necessity.
- Stay current with third-party payer policies and protocols relevant to assigned departments, including requirements for medical necessity and authorizations.
- Assess patient insurance benefits and coverage, and guide individuals to financial aid programs when appropriate.
- Achieve competence in all Patient Access functions, including those performed by registrars, financial counselors, schedulers, and authorization specialists.
- Support efforts to analyze denials and enhance processes related to financial clearance.
- Carry out other assigned tasks that fall within the responsibilities of the position.
