As a Finance Business Partner Analyst, you will play a central role in aligning financial strategy with field operations delivery. You'll work directly with operational leaders and finance teams to deliver actionable insights that guide planning, investment, and performance improvement across the electricity distribution network.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Field Operations and finance stakeholders to identify opportunities for improved financial and operational performance.
- Develop clear, data-driven analyses that support decision-making, particularly in capital investment and maintenance planning.
- Help design and refine next-generation reporting tools in partnership with performance teams to enhance transparency and forecasting accuracy.
- Support the development of business cases, risk assessments, and financial justifications for key projects and transformation efforts.
- Translate regulatory frameworks like RIIO into practical financial insights that inform operational strategy.
- Strengthen financial accountability by identifying process improvements and supporting capability development across operational teams.
- Present financial information clearly to non-financial audiences, ensuring sound investment decisions grounded in regulatory and performance outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Professional accounting qualification or near completion (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with solid understanding of financial principles.
- Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and delivering insight in a complex operational environment.
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems, advanced Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with E5 is advantageous.
- Ability to turn complex data into meaningful narratives that influence decision-making.
- Skilled at building trusted relationships across functions and levels, with a customer-focused, commercial mindset.
- Confident in presenting financial results and recommendations to diverse audiences.
- Adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement in fast-moving operational settings.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role based at the Bristol Avonbank office, with at least two days per week required on-site. The position involves regular travel across the South West and South Wales regions to engage with field teams and operational sites.
