The City of Green Bay is hiring a Filter Plant Operator to operate filtration and ozonation plant equipment, ensuring an adequate supply of safe drinking water for the community. This role is front line in the delivery of this critical service.
What You'll Do
- Monitor SCADA control systems for the filtration and ozonation plants and distribution system; make proper adjustments and determine dosages.
- Adjust chemical doses in response to changing water quality parameters.
- Maintain water system hydraulics to ensure appropriate water quantity, supply, and pressure.
- Keep valves, gauges, and mechanical apparatus in working order.
- Perform maintenance duties of moderate difficulty.
- Assist technician with various tasks.
- Perform lab tests using proper analytical techniques.
- Manually operate plant equipment during SCADA system failures.
- Utilize computer and related software to perform job duties.
- Maintain clean and orderly premises and safe work areas and equipment.
- Conduct tours through filtration and ozonation plants.
- Maintain records and create reports.
- Receive chemical deliveries.
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree in Water Technology or a related field.
- Three years' operating experience in a surface water treatment facility.
- State of Wisconsin Surface Water Treatment Certification.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
