Smith+Nephew is hiring a Field Support and Service Engineer – Iberia (Barcelona)

About the Role

Smith+Nephew is looking for a Field Support and Service Engineer to join our team covering Spain and Portugal, ideally based in the Barcelona area. In this role, you will ensure the optimal performance of our medical devices through direct customer interaction, technical expertise, and a commitment to supporting healthcare professionals.

What You'll Do

  • Provide remote and on-site 1st and 2nd Level support to end-users in Spain and Portugal and international distributors.
  • Install and decommission hardware at customer sites.
  • Schedule and perform on-site preventive maintenance according to SOPs and guidelines.
  • Prepare instruments for transportation and support customers throughout the repair process.
  • Solve technical problems directly at customer locations.
  • Perform basic technical training for hospital biomedical engineers.
  • Promote enhanced service offerings and support the sales team with service contract discussions.
  • Participate in internal trainings and maintain current knowledge of technical issues and SOPs.
  • Record all maintenance, complaints, and service visits via field reports and ServiceMax.
  • Assist Sales and Marketing teams with instrument pre-qualifications and technical matters.
  • Provide cover for other European Remote and Field Service Engineers as required.

What We're Looking For

  • A technical education, ideally in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience, ideally within the medical devices industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data for effective decision making.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
  • Experience working in a matrix organization.
  • Basic IT and networking knowledge.
  • Strong communication and consensus-building skills.
  • A detail-oriented, technical mindset with a startup approach to building processes.
  • A great teammate who requires travel up to 4 days per week and holds a valid driver's license.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SAP, Salesforce.com, ServiceMax, or other ERP/CRM platforms.
  • Portuguese or other language skills.
  • Experience with DiOR (Digital OR).

Team & Environment

You will be a member of the International Field Service team, reporting to the Field Service Manager Europe.
