Wabtec Corporation is seeking a Field Service Technician to implement and support our advanced safety and automation technologies. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of WABTEC Collision Avoidance System (CAS) technology and Dotnetix smart AI camera solutions on mining vehicles, from initial scoping through installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance. This hands-on role operates nationally and globally, requiring independent work onsite with remote team support.
What You'll Do
- Perform onsite installation and commissioning of CAS systems and smart AI cameras.
- Act as the primary site representative and face-to-the-customer on behalf of Wabtec.
- Manage project installations onsite, including oversight of sub-contractor resources.
- Conduct scoping activities prior to installation for customer review and approval.
- Drive EHS compliance and the continual improvement of safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate and timely project and service delivery records.
- Prepare site-specific documentation for each project.
- Train customer personnel on the installation and operation of the CAS system.
- Provide on-demand customer service and support, including troubleshooting and planned maintenance.
- Perform ongoing site maintenance to ensure high equipment availability.
- Conduct installation quality audits.
- Travel on short notice domestically and internationally as required.
What We're Looking For
- Auto Electrical or Electrical trade qualification.
- Mining industry site experience.
- Intermediate ability with Microsoft Office.
- Experience gathering customer inputs and translating them into solution requirements.
- Ability to manage changing work priorities in a dynamic customer site environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A strong work ethic and a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Ability to work unsupervised as an individual contributor.
- Capacity to both lead and work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility for travel and varied roster arrangements.
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
Nice to Have
- Minimum 3 years of industry or mining experience post-trade qualification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- Heavy vehicle mining auto electrical experience.
- Site supervision experience in a trades context.
- Basics of networking systems (LAN/WAN).
